Karadion wrote:It's to each own person to decide how they will proceed from that point on and if they decide that suicide becomes a bargaining chip, they are mentallyfucked in the head and it's not my fault at all. Suicide is not and should never be a bargaining chip to force people to go their way. This.
"Zomg I'll kill myself", is not an argument to be taken seriously. To allow threats of such action to negatively impact gameplay, and for such threats to be protected and legitimized by CCP, is simply wrong. And, quite frankly, it is demeaning and belittling to those genuinely suffering from depression.
Threatening to kill yourself is not a bargaining chip to be used to stop people pestering you in an online game, it is not our responsibility to investigate the validity or seriousness of his threats of self harm and it is certainly not CCP's place to protect him from us.
Quite simply I'm glad CCP haven't had a knee jerk reaction to this, as many other games publishers would have. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

Lord Pestilence wrote:"CSM Representative Conduct
Any behavior or actions considered being a material breach of the EULA or TOS by a CSM representative is grounds for immediate dismissal and permanent exclusion from all pending and future participation in the council. There are no exceptions, regardless of the infraction. Representatives are not only expected to uphold the social contract that all society members are held accountable to, but should also set a behavior standard for everyone else to follow." I think the issue is that you don't sign an EULA or ToS to go to fan fest and speak publicly.
Out of game actions: surprisingly not governed by CCP. Although it'd be grand if they could nerf my neighbor's Lamborghini. Then buff the IT industry so I can afford one myself.
Wait, CCP for government? -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

But now i cant take CSM seriously at all after that display from Mittani, I cant help laughing at him. He really is the biggest childish idiot swimming in his own self importance i have ever seen.. Oh well at least eve got alot more amusing.. You realize it wasn't just goons that voted for him, right? Six of those votes are from me, and I know a number of other people in -A-, cascade, nulli etc. that all voted for him.
Say what you like about goons, Mittani's attitude and massive douchebaggery in the face of armies of forum warrioring terribad care bears perfectly represent my views of Eve, and where I would like the game to go in the future. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

stoicfaux wrote:Who says I'm defending him or Mittani?
My point is that Mitt probably crossed the line between in-game and out-of-game douchebaggery, that it wouldn't take much for this to blow up into a scandal that will require CCP's action, and that Mitt, the CSM chair, isn't handling the situation as seriously as he should be.
Anyone whose reputation is built around being a flamboyant douchebag shouldn't enter a sympathy contest with an allegedly depressed suicidal individual, especially if that contest is going to be judged by public opinion. Seriously, if this "scandal" hits the game sites or finds a quasi-mainstream news reporter desperate for a story, Mitt is going find himself censured or worse.
Plus, if the negative publicity keeps up, I'm thinking that the next fanfest's presentations are going to have less drinking and more lawyers.
On the up side, Eve online is going to get a bit of media attention out of it. Score. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

It simply says doing so is actionable. For example, opening a website to release EVE players real world information is also not allowed. Where is this player's "real world" information? -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

Twulf wrote:I think that most of you that are pro Mittani are missing the major point here.
This COULD be a huge issue for CCP. There are US congress people looking for any reason to shut down or regulate the video game industry. Things like this just add fuel to their fire.
You do understand that the USA could simply ban CCP from selling EVE in America correct? You do understand that is something that is not out of the realm of possiblilities if one of these anti-video game people pick this up and run with it. Cyber - Bulling is a huge issue here in the states. I disagree as I think bullying is just human nature but that is not the point.
I think you idiots need to understand how much of an issue this could really be. This is much more then some simple comment made by an idiot. This could be the issue that starts the ball rolling for the anit video game people.
I do not think it will get that big but that is the issue here. Not so much how stupid the comment was, or how wrong it is to try and push someone over the edge and kill themselves but the fact that this is the kind of ammo these anti video game people are waiting for.
What would you idiot goons do if the USA ban's EVE in the USA? How much crying would there be?
This is the worst case but it could happen and their are people waiting for just these kind of things to happen, so they can grab and run around saying "I told you so, I told you video games are evil." America could try banning the sale of Eve online to American citizens, it probably wouldn't manage it in practice though. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

I keep having to rewatch that video, I really don't understand the reaction it received. The suicide aspect wasn't central to the joke, nor was any call for harassment. These threads simply exagerate the mittanis words, and try and create some scandal over it.
Reality is, that entire panel was pretty boring. Even the in-game player "the wiz" didn't give a **** about it, and reading his "suicide threat" it was hardly serious. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

If He himself does not want to promote this kind of stuff once again he should have stepped down oh wait he has not . No, plenty of sensible people have stepped forward to defend him.
